Typical Session

Each student will be paired with an LS high school reading buddy

All sessions are one-on-one with that buddy

Students and their buddy will will read out loud for about half the session

During the second half the student will play literacy games with their buddy

SAFETY NOTE: Parents must stay at the library if their child is under 10 years old

How do I choose a tutor?
If you know of someone your child has read with in the past and would like them to be placed with them again, please just say so in the email and I will do my best to make it happen! If there are no special requests, your child will get assigned a buddy to read with for all of the sessions.
All reading buddy sessions will be held at the Goodnow Library every Wednesday between February 7th and March 14th (excluding vacation week which is February 21st). The times are 4:00-4:30, 4:40-5:10, 5:20-5:50, and 6:00-6:30.
No, these literacy sessions are completely free of charge.
Your child's reading confidence will increase with the help from their LS buddy. Sessions will focus on fluency, comprehension, and creating a supportive environment where your child can grow.
